This is the last chapter on composition, with an exercise that lets you enter the practice of master artists like Degas with your own hand.

Looking at just how great artists do their work has always been a great way to get something moving in your own mind. The trick, though, is to take it in viscerally, as energy. You don’t want to just get the look of what you see, you want the heart.

So here is a way to practice moving your eye the way same way Degas, LeWitt, Al Held, Paul Cezanne, Zhu Yunming did. It's like placing your hand on theirs as they work. Try it.
